2020 Plum Creek re-leaf
On November 14th, 2020, volunteers from several partner organizations joined GBRT in our first-annual reforestation event at our Plum Creek Wetlands Preserve in Lockhart, TX. The event was originally planned to be a community-wide volunteer event, but our first effort was scaled back due to COVID-19 . Join us in 2021.
The 2020 effort included 30 guests by invitation from partner organizations. Volunteers logged a total of 58 service hours, planted almost 300 trees, watered and marked each tree, and received a hay ride style tour of the preserve. All 13 tree species planted are native to the riparian areas in the Plum Creek watershed
Special thanks to a generous contribution from the Burdine Johnson Foundation. Join us in November, 2021 for a community-wide volunteer effort. The intention of Re-Leaf is to restore and enhance the preserve to its historic landscape, with reforestation in the fall and prairie restoration in the spring.
