Plum Creek Wetlands Preserve
The purpose and mission of the Plum Creek Wetlands Preserve is to conserve water quality with responsible management of wetlands, to protect wildlife habitat and to promote an appreciation of the natural world through meaningful educational, recreational, and research opportunities
Volunteers Needed!
The Conservancy is seeking volunteers for our restoration and maintenance of the preserve. In addition to our annual Re-Leaf reforestation event, we will be hosting opportunities throughout the year. Upcoming events are not yet scheduled. Work will include tree and grass plantings, prescribed burning, invasive species removal, and general trail maintenance. Species chosen for plantings are native to the Blackland Prairie ecoregion for both wetlands and non-wetlands. The property includes diverse habitat types including a mile of riparian woodlands along plum creek, and emergent, forested wetlands. The 21 constructed wetlands on site are very inviting to wildlife including the White-Tailed Deer, many species of raptors, waterfowl, amphibians, reptiles, and pollinators. This is a great volunteering opportunity for Master Naturalists, Master Gardeners, members of clubs and organizations, students, local community members, families, or anyone seeking educational hours toward a project.
